2024 Weekly MTB & TR Race Series

Join us this year and be a part of the longest running Weekly Race Series in the country! The weekly races at Catamount have a strong history in the community and offer a fun and relaxing atmosphere for everyone. Whether you are new to racing, or a seasoned competitor, you won’t want to miss the races at Catamount! As in prior years, we will host Tuesday evening Trail running series and Wednesday evening MTB series from mid-May through early-September. The weekly in-person races will begin at 6:00pm sharp.  Please see the Race Series FAQ’s and Race Course Descriptions below for full details.

Register for the full 17 weeks of the MTB or Trail Running series!

Anticipated start dates: May 14th (TR)  & 16th (MTB)

Anticipated end dates and celebrations: September 3rd (TR) and 4th (MTB)

Looking for  single race night entry?Get the best price by registering in advanced on BikeReg & RunReg!

Folks can register for any race night in the series in advance this way. This option closes at 12:00pm on each race date.



Day of registration is available at Catamount’s Hub between 3:00pm and 5:45pm each race night.

This option has a higher rate due to the fast turn around and staff time needed to support this registration option.



Please note that the choice option cost more than the in-person and virtual options because our staff need to do twice the amount of back end data management and communication with this format.

Adult, Youth, and Family options are available for each format. You can choose to enter the In-Person Series Only, Virtual Series Only, or choose the ‘Choice’ option for both formats!

What is the ‘Choice’ Option?2023-02-22T09:55:45-05:00

You can choose to race in-person or virtual each week! Since end of season awards are based on participation you never have to miss a week because of the inevitable, such as weather cancellations, illness, work, or family plans. Racing both virtual and in-person in one week with NOT double your participation points.

Is there night-of or single night entry options?2023-02-22T10:06:35-05:00

Yes, purchase online via RunReg or BikeReg before noon and save money on your entry!
In-person registration will be offered at the Hub for for non-series participants purchasing that evening’s race.  
In-person registration closes at 5:45pm sharp.

How do I get my race bib/plate number?2023-02-22T10:18:08-05:00

Everyone who has registered for the full race series will be given a racer packet and assigned a race number for the whole series.

For all single night race entries, please stop by the Hub to get your number before 5:45pm. If you arrive after 5:45pm, your number will ether be waiting at the Hub for you or with our Race Director. You will be issued a new number each week if you do multiple single night entires.

If you want to avoid potential lines on race night, you can stop at the Hub at Catamount, during business hours, to pick it up ahead of time.


What do I do if I lose my race number or forget it on race night?2023-02-22T10:20:00-05:00

Come to the Hub and/or email to let us know.  We will give you new or temporary number to wear and update our timing system.  It is critical you use the correct race number for the timing system and race results.

People will not be allowed to race without a number as this negatively impacts our timing and results.

Tuesday Trail Running start times are:

  • 6:00 Half Lap Cadet race
  • 6:15 5k (10k option will also start at this time on the 1st Tuesday of each month)

Wednesday MTB start times are:

  • 6:00 1 lap
  • 6:03 Half Lap Cadet
  • 6:05 Cubbies (5 yrs and under)
  • 6:15 2 lap
  • 6:27 4 lap
  • 6:30 3 lap
Will there be 10K trail runs this year?2023-02-22T10:13:20-05:00

Yes! We will run 10K races on the 1st Tuesdays of each month.

How will you let me know if you cancel a race due to weather?2023-06-20T09:59:59-04:00

COFC uses the National Weather Service Hourly Forecast to make weather related decisions. If the forecast is showing a 60% chance (or higher) for thunderstorms between 6:00-7:30pm, we will cancel the race for that evening. We will make cancellation decisions between 4pm and 5pm the day of the race, and will announce it on our Facebook page.

Yes, we will post race results each week.  We are using a timing system called Webscorer, and in person results will be posted to a Catamount page at  Virtual and in person will have separate race results on the Catamount Race Series page.

What do I do if I spot an error in my race results?2023-02-22T10:22:02-05:00

Please contact with any result correction requests. Please note that we will only change your results. If you notice an issue with another persons results, they must reach out to us directly. 

How do I earn my weekly attendance credit for year end awards?2023-02-22T10:09:56-05:00

Attendance credit is earned for both in-person and virtual races. You will NOT get 2x credit if you race in person and virtual. Make sure you see your name in the results posted each week and you will know that you received credit.  If you do not see your name in the results for a week you raced, email

How does the Virtual Race format work?2023-02-22T09:56:40-05:00

As a virtual racer, you can choose the timing app that works best for you! Some of the more popular ones include: Strava, RunKeeper, Endomondo, GoogleFit and MapMyFitness.

  • If you purchase the Virtual Series or Choice, we will email you a Submission link for your virtual results
  • Each week we will announce the course late Sunday afternoon
  • Virtual racers choose when to complete the course that week
  • Virtual results must be entered by 9pm on Thursday
  • We will post results!

The 2023 Race Courses

The race course each week will be announced Sunday night at the top of this webpage. You may also check our social media and ‘The Hub’ in the parking lot for race course information. Runners can choose between a 2.5k Cadet course or a 5k  (10k options on the first Tuesday of each month) for the season. Bikers can choose between a 2.5k Cadet lap or one to four 5k laps. * Distances are approximate and vary on each course, year to year.

Black Arrows on White Squares
The 2023 Black on White Race Course is on the Goose Hill side and will once again take participants for a complete tour of the south side of Catamount. This rolling race course is designed to challenge every participant who tries it. The course will begin with a loop in the field to thin the herd before dropping into Black Bridge cutoff to Black bridge. The climbing will then begin up and past the cadet cutoff onto the Stonesteps and down Mullet. Another climb up Applesauce to the back field will reveal the best views in Williston. Racers will then go down Shovel Head and around the Bobolink field to the finish. This route climbs 310 ft with a max elevation of 684 ft then descends -317 ft.

Cadet cut-off will cut from Sumacs into Elliots Oaks to rejoin at Shovelhead.

Red Arrows on Black Squares
The 20223 Red on Black Race Course  takes you through the Sandmans area in the north western corner of Catamount. This is the race the course for speed and classic VT root sections!  Red on Black begins with a lot of wider trails before finally finding single track at Balsams onto Cliffs of Insanity. The first climb will be up Newts ridge before quickly turning back down the Rock Ridge. The course will then go out to ride Moose poop and return to finish via Porcupine and Woodstrace. This route climbs 181 ft with a max elevation of 586 ft then descends -188 ft. *logging expected by late August in NW trails

Cadet cut-offs will be at Clabber bridge taking Cliffs towards Post Rd, AND at the top of Newts Ridge connecting back to Porcupine

Yellow Arrows on Green Squares
The 20223 Yellow on Green course, as is expected of the annual race course to the Lookout,  is a tough one. From the start line, the course will climb as directly as possible to the southern lookout before traversing and climbing again to visit the northern lookout. What goes up must come down. The course will finish by descending Labyrinth through Balsams and heading back via the Woodstrace road. This route climbs 296 ft with a max elevation of 770 ft then descends -306 ft.

Cadet cut-off will be under the powerlines bypassing the switchbacks and taking Lookout ski trail to Trout Lily to rejoin course.
