Catamount Outdoor Family Center manages the recreational opportunities throughout the Catamount Community Forest.
Beyond the daily operations that you see front and center when you visit, we are responsible for maintaining over 20 miles of trails including both single track and double track. As you can imagine, it’s a lot of work!
We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to lend a hand. In the springtime, we are busy clearing debris from trails and leaf blowing the leaf litter that protected the trail tread over the winter. Throughout the summer operating season there are always projects ranging from rock removal on double track to improve our ability to groom for skiing, and repairing the existing trail tread on single track trails for safety and improved drainage. In addition to trail work, volunteers are needed to help with events and races!
Race series: Our weekly race series, on Tuesday & Wednesday evenings, is looking for volunteers to assist with calling and recording bib numbers. As a volunteer, you would join our Race Director at 5:45pm and assist through the race finish.
Summer Camp CIT: We are looking for enthusiastic young people to join us for summer camps as Counselors in Training! Join our staff and coaches, and spend time with younger campers throughout the Catamount Community Forest. This is a great way to gain employment skills such as leadership, communication, first aid/CPR training, and group dynamics. There are opportunities in all our summer camp programs: mountain bike, trail running, and the new Explorers Camp!
