Spring Fun at Catamount!

March 9th to 16th

Spring temperatures have arrived at Catamount and are staying through the week with some colder temps and possible snow over the weekend. This means we have entered into our sensitive season of freeze and thaw cycles. Please check our trail conditions, as we may need to close some trails for a few days to steward the network. We appreciate your patience as trails dry out after a wonderful winter season!

We have some snow remaining for the adventurous skiers, with unlinked coverage around the network. Ski grooming was last done on 3/4.

Night Loop lights will be off and rentals will be closed this week; Please plan to use your own gear and pay via QR codes at the Hub for easy access.

No tire or foot traffic allowed until the trails dry out or firm up. Folks are welcome to use Governor Chittenden Road while we wait.  Thank you for your understanding and for helping us care for the trails.

While pedestrian/snowshoe access is complementary, trail maintenance, grooming and organizational support are expensive. Please support our nonprofit’s year round stewardship. Remember to member up! Membership comes with many benefits, including early camp access.

We’ve updated camp schedules and offerings for 2026, with increased spaces for our youngest campers and new girls and advanced bike camp options.

Please review our Spring Trail Mantras:

For the sake of all trail users please be patient during freeze thaw cycles. Thank you for helping us steward these trails.

If you are leaving a muddy track, please turn back.
If the ground is covered in white, wearing snowshoes is right.
Ski wherever your heart desires, single track is best for snowshoes and tires.
Ski tracks are set to glide, make sure to snowshoe and ride to the side.

Winning is exciting. Personal bests are empowering. Community is what keeps us coming back! For decades, the weekly races at Catamount have brought riders and runners of all levels to the starting line. Whether you’re new to racing or a seasoned pro, you won’t want to miss the excitement at Catamount.

Catamount Cycling Club

Catamount’s Cycling Clubs are designed for young riders with a passion for the outdoors and their sport! Each week, Club members can expect to start with dynamic stretching, head out on an exciting trail adventure to get their hearts pumping, and then slow things down to work on specific skills.

Building & Trail Updates

After an extensive public input phase during the winter and spring, we’ve been working hard this summer with our partners on the VOREC Building Planning Grant — Black River Design and TCE — to advance building designs and permitting requirements. This work includes wetlands and stormwater delineations and permits, Act 250 review, septic system planning, and more. We aim to have conceptual designs finalized this fall! We’re very excited to be moving this project forward.

With Town of Williston Selectboard approval in the Spring, we are still moving forward with Act 250 and Wetland permits for our Comprehensive Trail Plan! This work is being done concurrently with building planing whenever possible.  Supporting the planning time and permit applications for this project is essential to its success.
