VOLUNTEER

Volunteer at Catamount Outdoor Family Center

The Catamount Outdoor Family Center manages recreational opportunities throughout the Catamount Community Forest.

Beyond the daily operations you see when you visit, we’re also responsible for maintaining over 25 miles of trails, including both singletrack and doubletrack, as well as providing recreation and education programming year-round.

As you can imagine, it’s a lot of work! We’re always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to lend a hand and support our mission.

Trail Work

In the spring, we focus on clearing debris from the trails and leaf blowing the leaf litter that protected the trail tread over the winter. Throughout the summer season, projects range from rock removal on doubletrack (to improve grooming for skiing) to repairing singletrack trail tread for safety and improved drainage.

We host a five-week Spring Trail Work Series and a five-week Fall Trail Work Series, in addition to organizing pop-up trail work days throughout the year.

Schedule a Group Volunteer Day!

If you are interested in volunteering as an individual or looking to set up a service project for an organized group please reach out to us directly so we can work together to find the project which best fits your needs.

We would be thrilled to have you join the crew at Catamount and help us to ensure a quality trail system for all to enjoy.

Weekly Races

On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from mid-May through September, Catamount hosts weekly Trail Running and Mountain Bike race series that rely on volunteers to help call and record bib numbers and support race operations.

Races continue into the fall with our five-week Cyclocross Series, which starts right after the MTB season ends.

If you are interested in volunteering at Catamount’s weekly race series, please contact our Race Director.
