Catamount Lessons, Clinics & Tours

Catamount Outdoor Family Center offers summer fun and learning for all!

Lessons are ideal for individuals seeking one-on-one instruction or for small groups of family and friends looking for a semi-private lesson. Offered for mountain biking from learn to ride to jump lines.

Clinics are offered on pre-scheduled dates and are open to the public. They’re a great way to meet other folks in the area while improving your skills in a supportive group setting. Offered for mountain biking from learn to ride to jump lines. Women’s Only MTB clinics available.

Tours are perfect for those who want to explore the property with a knowledgeable guide, customized to your interests. Learn about the history and future of the Catamount Outdoor Family Center, as well as the flora, fauna, fungi, and other unique features of the Catamount Community Forest.

Our summer operations typically run from May through November, depending on weather and trail conditions. Please note that all lessons, clinics, and tours are weather and conditions dependent.

⚠️ Supervision Requirements

All youth under age 14 must have a guardian on-site during any lesson, clinic, or tour.

Youth under age 8 must have a guardian registered with them for any clinic.

RENTAL ADD ONS

Adult MTB: $22.50
Youth MTB: $10
Helmet Only: $5

Clinics are booked instantly online here, as the coach, date and time have already been set.

RESERVATION POLICY:

Lessons and tours require 48 hour advance notice and are booked after your form request is sent and an instructor is matched. Catamount cannot guarantee any day of reservation for these offerings.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

We require a 24 hour notice to cancel your lesson, clinic, or tour reservation. Please email us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule so that we can open the spot to others.
Any cancellations within 24 hours will be charged full price to accommodate instructors time. Thank you!

LESSON FEES

Private Lesson – $75/hour
Semi-Private Lesson – $60/hour per person

Please note: Limited instructor availability during June-August as they are busy with summer camp season. *Gratuities not included but encouraged*

CLINIC FEES

2-Hour Clinic – $60
4-Hour Women’s Clinic – $80

GROUP TOURS

Custom: $100/ hour

WEEKLY GUIDED RIDES

Novice Mondays 6pm-7:30pm
Social Thursday 6pm-8pm

*Free to members; $10 for non-members*

INSTRUCTORS

Carolyn Siccama
Carolyn SiccamaSummer MTB Coach
Carolyn has been teaching beginner and intermediate mountain bike clinics at Catamount for 6 years. She absolutely loves teaching people how to mountain bike and watching the confidence level of each rider unfold over the duration of a 3 hour clinic! Over 30 years ago Carolyn learned to mountain bike by taking a “learn to mountain bike” clinic at Catamount with Lucy and Abby McCullough. She loves being able to give back to the sport where it all began. When not on a mountain bike you can find Carolyn trail running, nordic skiing, learning to golf, or working at UVM where she is an Instructional Designer.
Justin Bennett
Justin BennettSummer and Winter Adventure Instructor
Justin has been skiing close to 20 years, downhill as well as cross country. He also enjoys road biking, mountain biking, hiking, basically any type of excuse to be outdoors. Justin has been a downhill instructor for about 5 years, and is looking forward to sharing the outdoors with others! Recently Justin has completed instructor training for mountain biking with PMBIA Level 1 Certification as well as being Wilderness First Aid certified.
Andy Coddington

Andy, a BICP Level I instructor, has been obsessed with bikes since he first felt the freedom of two wheels as a child. As a teenager he raced XC right here at Catamount before heading west to discover lift service DH. More recently he ditched the knobby tires and rode a touring bike from Portland OR to Portland ME.
John Atkinson
John AtkinsonGravity Logic Level 1 freeride coach & Bike/Walk Smart educator.
John has been helping people become better riders for 30 years and is a certified Gravity Logic Level 1 freeride coach and a Bike/Walk Smart educator. His primary focus is working with new and less aggressive riders looking to build confidence and skill sets in a patient fun environment.
