DESCRIPTION:Taught by women\, for women!\n\n\n\nThese encouraging 1/2 day morning clinics are designed to instill confidence\, build skills and have fun. This session is designed to provide solid foundation skills\, including body mechanics\, bike handling\, braking\, shifting\, negotiating trail obstacles and features and balance. Our goal is to give you the building blocks to a solid foundation on your bike or to provide an early season overview or refresher to help build or restore comfort and confidence on the trails. This clinic is intended for novice riders. \n\n\n\nDate: June 21st\, 2025\nTime: 8:00AM to 12:00PM\nCost: $80/person (Includes Day Membership) Limited rentals bikes available- email programs@catamountoutdoor.org to reserve. \nLesson Outline: (Subject to change based on weather and group dynamics.) \n\nArrival & Welcome!\nDiscuss lesson plan & customize to group\nFundamentals Part 1: Learning the basics of shifting\, braking & body position. DESCRIPTION:Registration below!Catamount OFC’s Cycling Club – 2025 Season\nFor Riders Ages 8-14\nCatamount’s Cycling Club is designed for young riders with a passion for the outdoors and their sport! The club extends the fun of our summer camp programs into the spring\, summer\, and fall\, providing opportunities for kids to experience different types of riding\, improve their skills\, and build confidence in a supportive and fun environment. \nJoin us every Monday and Wednesday from May to October for 90 minutes of biking bliss and exploration. Team camaraderie and collective excitement help push personal limits\, encourage others\, and foster growth as both athletes and individuals. \nSchedule: \nMonday & Wednesday: 4:30pm – 6:00pm \nSeason: May 19th – October 13th\, 2025 \nRain or Shine: On inclement weather days\, sessions will move indoors to focus on bike maintenance skills\, mobility exercises\, and other bike or nature related games.\nWe operate with a 1:8 staff-to-member ratio to ensure quality instruction and safety.\n\nTwo Enrollment Options\nFull Season (May – October): $1000 (5 months) \nMonthly Enrollment: \n\nJune\, July\, August\, & September: $220 per month\nMay & October (half months): $115 per month\n\n10% off for Catamount Members \n\nPrerequisite Skills for Participation\nTo ensure a positive experience and safety\, participants must have the following skills: \n\n\nAbility to ride a bike on flat\, varied terrain (grass\, dirt\, gravel\, small roots\, and rocks) confidently and without training wheels. \n\n\nAbility to turn in both directions on the above terrain. \n\n\nAbility to maintain a finger on the brakes while riding and stop safely when directed. \n\n\nIf your child is still working on these skills\, we’re happy to help! Check out our Spring MTB Clinic options before registering for the club or consider scheduling a private lesson. \nNote: No refunds will be issued for participants sent home due to missing DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun and informative MTB clinic designed for youth ages 6-17. \nThis clinic focuses on helping kids get comfortable with the prerequisite skills needed for our Summer Camps and Cycling Club programs\, which are open to youth ages 6-14. However\, this clinic is open to anyone looking to learn MTB skills\, ages 6-17. Our experienced instructors will guide participants through the basics of technique\, equipment\, and safety\, all while enjoying the beautiful landscape at Catamount OFC. \nThis clinic is best suited for those who have some experience riding on two wheels but are new to MTB trails. If your kiddo is looking to transition from a Strider bike or is ready to remove training wheels\, please contact us to schedule a private lesson. \nPrerequisite skills for all Catamount OFC Summer Camp and Club: Due to the staff support needed in teaching kids how to ride a bike\, Catamounts camp require campers show up with basic riding skills. The club extends the fun of our summer camp programs into the spring\, summer\, and fall\, providing opportunities for kids to experience different types of riding\, improve their skills\, and build confidence in a supportive and fun environment. \nJoin us every Monday and Wednesday from May to October for 90 minutes of biking bliss and exploration. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a 2-hour Intermediate MTB Clinic and take your bike skills to the next level! \nIn this clinic\, we’ll build upon your beginner skills while exploring intermediate trails and terrain\, including roots\, rocks\, dirt\, and wood features. We’ll also play bike games as we practice drills and refine key skills. Focus areas include braking\, body positioning\, and skill blending (braking\, riding\, shifting\, and pedaling). Fun challenges await\, from climbing and descending singletrack trails to tackling rock walls and the Gullywumper! \nPrerequisites:  \n\n\nCompletion of a beginner skills clinic at Catamount within the last 3 years\, or \n\n\nDemonstration of all of the following skills: \n\n\n-Eyes forward\, scanning ahead while riding \n-Covering brakes with one finger while riding \n-Use of both brakes to slow down and stop \n-“Neutral” and “Ready” riding positions \n-Pedaling on flat and varied terrain \n-Stand-up riding on flat and varied terrain with even pedals \n-Turning in both directions \nIf you have any questions about your skill level for this clinic\, please contact us at programs@catamountoutdoor.org. \nPlease bring your bike\, helmet\, water\, snack\, and any other gear you need to feel comfortable. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun Fungi Foray at Catamount Outdoor Family Center on June 7th from 10AM-12PM with our Executive Director\, John Atkinson. \nPlease dress appropriately for time and space travel\, as we plan to cover a few billion years and visit different galaxies as we wander on our gentler trails. \nBring water and snacks for the hike. We also recommend cameras and container for your fungi finds! \nThis event is open to all ages and abilities. DESCRIPTION:Registration below!Catamount OFC’s Cycling Club – 2025 Season\nFor Riders Ages 8-14\nCatamount’s Cycling Club is designed for young riders with a passion for the outdoors and their sport! The club extends the fun of our summer camp programs into the spring\, summer\, and fall\, providing opportunities for kids to experience different types of riding\, improve their skills\, and build confidence in a supportive and fun environment. \nJoin us every Monday and Wednesday from May to October for 90 minutes of biking bliss and exploration. Team camaraderie and collective excitement help push personal limits\, encourage others\, and foster growth as both athletes and individuals. \nSchedule: \nMonday & Wednesday: 4:30pm – 6:00pm \nSeason: May 19th – October 13th\, 2025 \nRain or Shine: On inclement weather days\, sessions will move indoors to focus on bike maintenance skills\, mobility exercises\, and other bike or nature related games.\nWe operate with a 1:8 staff-to-member ratio to ensure quality instruction and safety.\n\nTwo Enrollment Options\nFull Season (May – October): $1000 (5 months) \nMonthly Enrollment: \n\nJune\, July\, August\, & September: $220 per month\nMay & October (half months): $115 per month\n\n10% off for Catamount Members \n\nPrerequisite Skills for Participation\nTo ensure a positive experience and safety\, participants must have the following skills: \n\n\nAbility to ride a bike on flat\, varied terrain (grass\, dirt\, gravel\, small roots\, and rocks) confidently and without training wheels. \n\n\nAbility to turn in both directions on the above terrain. \n\n\nAbility to maintain a finger on the brakes while riding and stop safely when directed. \n\n\nIf your child is still working on these skills\, we’re happy to help! DESCRIPTION:Taught by women\, for women!\nThese encouraging 1/2 day morning clinics are designed to instill confidence\, build skills and have fun. This session is designed to provide solid foundation skills\, including body mechanics\, bike handling\, braking\, shifting\, negotiating trail obstacles and features and balance. Our goal is to give you the building blocks to a solid foundation on your bike or to provide an early season overview or refresher to help build or restore comfort and confidence on the trails. DESCRIPTION:Registration below!Catamount OFC’s Cycling Club – 2025 Season\nFor Riders Ages 8-14\nCatamount’s Cycling Club is designed for young riders with a passion for the outdoors and their sport! The club extends the fun of our summer camp programs into the spring\, summer\, and fall\, providing opportunities for kids to experience different types of riding\, improve their skills\, and build confidence in a supportive and fun environment. \nJoin us every Monday and Wednesday from May to October for 90 minutes of biking bliss and exploration. Team camaraderie and collective excitement help push personal limits\, encourage others\, and foster growth as both athletes and individuals. \nSchedule: \nMonday & Wednesday: 4:30pm – 6:00pm \nSeason: May 19th – October 13th\, 2025 \nRain or Shine: On inclement weather days\, sessions will move indoors to focus on bike maintenance skills\, mobility exercises\, and other bike or nature related games.\nWe operate with a 1:8 staff-to-member ratio to ensure quality instruction and safety.\n\nTwo Enrollment Options\nFull Season (May – October): $1000 (5 months) \nMonthly Enrollment: \n\nJune\, July\, August\, & September: $220 per month\nMay & October (half months): $115 per month\n\n10% off for Catamount Members \n\nPrerequisite Skills for Participation\nTo ensure a positive experience and safety\, participants must have the following skills: \n\n\nAbility to ride a bike on flat\, varied terrain (grass\, dirt\, gravel\, small roots\, and rocks) confidently and without training wheels. \n\n\nAbility to turn in both directions on the above terrain. \n\n\nAbility to maintain a finger on the brakes while riding and stop safely when directed. \n\n\nIf your child is still working on these skills\, we’re happy to help! Check out our Spring MTB Clinic options before registering for the club or consider scheduling a private lesson. \nNote: No refunds will be issued for participants sent home due to missing prerequisite skills. \n\nBike Requirements\nAll bikes used in Catamount OFC must meet the following criteria: \n\n\nMultiple gears (no single-speed or single-gear bikes). \n\n\nHand brakes (rim or disc brakes) that can be operated with one finger (no foot/pedal brakes). \n\n\nPedals (no striders or kick bikes). \n\n\nNote: Bikes with foot brakes\, training wheels\, single-speed/one-gear\, or SUMMARY:FOTW Enduro at Catamount OFC!
DESCRIPTION:Join Fellowship of the Wheel at Catamount Outdoor Family Center for a round of fun and casual racing! This Enduro-style event is meant to be a friendly and supportive atmosphere to encourage new riders and experienced riders alike to come outside and play. The open class event allows you to go at your own pace and will feature 2 timed stages. \nNEW DATE: * 5/27/25* \nPrizes and schwag will be tossed out for the most spirited and fun-having competitors\, so whether you come through the finish line with a sigh of relief for completing your first-ever enduro or mashing the pedals to improve your times\, we have tokens of our appreciation for your participation! \nThis is the first event of a 4 race series. Catamount is the perfect season opener with terrain well-suited for first-time racers and experienced racers. Stage 1 will utilize trails Bear Trap\, Look Out\, and Slalom. Stage 2 will utilize trails Coyote Turnpike\, Look Out\, and Three Rivers. Join us and let the good times roll. \nFellowship or Catamount Members entry fee of $18. \nNon-Members entry fee of $23 \nON-SITE REGISTRATION WILL BE AVAILABLE! Riders can register starting at 4:30 PM and end by 6:15 PM. Racing will begin at 5:30 PM and end by 7:30 PM \nParking is first come first serve in the main lot and available along one side of Governor Chittenden Rd. \nRefunds will be available if the event is postponed or canceled due to weather. \nAll proceeds from tickets go directly towards supporting your trails! \nFellowship of the Wheel is a non-profit that advocates for mountain biking and maintains 100+ miles of public multi-use trails in Chittenden County\, Vermont. The club extends the fun of our summer camp programs into the spring\, summer\, and fall\, providing opportunities for kids to experience different types of riding\, improve their skills\, and build confidence in a supportive and fun environment. \nJoin us every Monday and Wednesday from May to October for 90 minutes of biking bliss and exploration. Team camaraderie and collective excitement help push personal limits\, encourage others\, and foster growth as both athletes and individuals. \nSchedule: \nMonday & Wednesday: 4:30pm – 6:00pm \nSeason: May 19th – October 13th\, 2025 \nRain or Shine: On inclement weather days\, sessions will move indoors to focus on bike maintenance skills\, mobility exercises\, and other bike or nature related games.\nWe operate with a 1:8 staff-to-member ratio to ensure quality instruction and safety.\n\nTwo Enrollment Options\nFull Season (May – October): $1000 (5 months) \nMonthly Enrollment: \n\nJune\, July\, August\, & September: $220 per month\nMay & October (half months): $115 per month\n\n10% off for Catamount Members \n\nPrerequisite Skills for Participation\nTo ensure a positive experience and safety\, participants must have the following skills: \n\n\nAbility to ride a bike on flat\, varied terrain (grass\, dirt\, gravel\, small roots\, and rocks) confidently and without training wheels. \n\n\nAbility to turn in both directions on the above terrain. \n\n\nAbility to maintain a finger on the brakes while riding and stop safely when directed. \n\n\nIf your child is still working on these skills\, we’re happy to help! SUMMARY:Pride Ski at Catamount Outdoor Family Center
DESCRIPTION:Join Audubon Vermont\, Vermont Land Trust\, Catamount Trails Association\, and Pride Center of Vermont for a fun and inclusive day of cross-country skiing at the Catamount Outdoor Family Center! We will ski for about an hour and a half around the 35 kilometers of groomed trails the center has to offer. The terrain is varied with both flat and hilly trails and includes both wooded and open sections that offer beautiful views and scenic vistas. We will stick together as a group on beginner trails\, but participants are welcome to challenge by choice if they want more advanced routes. This event was designed with the LGBTQIA+ community and allies in mind. \n\n\n\n\nWhile this is not a ski lesson\, we welcome skiers of all levels! We will have a short review at the beginning of the event of skiing tips\, then explore scenic trails at our own pace. Take in the winter beauty\, engage in meaningful conversations\, and enjoy the company of new friends in a supportive and open atmosphere! \nRegistration is required. Please indicate in the registration if you will need to borrow a complimentary pair of skis (covered by Audubon Vermont and Vermont Land Trust) or if you will bring your own. Have an extra pair of skis that you don’t mind lending out? Please bring them! \nThe Catamount Outdoor Family Center requires all trail users to complete a Participant Waiver. Please complete this form AFTER registering for the event. \nCatamount also has trail mantras to keep in mind before use. We will go over these day of as well: \n\nIf you are leaving a foot track\, please turn back.\nIf the ground is fully white\, wearing snowshoes is right.\nSki wherever your heart desires\, single track is best for snowshoes and tires.\nSki tracks are set to glide\, make sure to snowshoe and ride to the side.\n\nWhat to wear and bring:  \n\nWarm layers that you can take on and off. Even if it is a cold day\, xc skiing can get your heart rate up and warm your body. It’s always nice to be able to peel back some layers as needed.\nGloves\nTall\, wool socks\nWater\nTrail snacks\nSunglasses if forecast calls for sun. Snow is very reflective!\nSunscreen\n\nNo dogs. If under 18\, please come accompanied by an adult. \nNote: This event is capped so that we can respect the trails. If registration is sold out\, we are at capacity. Grab your fat bike\, or one of the free demo bikes provided at the event\, and join in on the fun as we celebrate winter biking together! \nBack in 2020\, The RTF provided matching funds to individual donors to help raise the money needed to purchase the SnowDog groomer that Catamount OFC uses on our fat bike network! COFC and RTF have rallied each year since then to offer this space for folks to come together and enjoy this winter sport. \nSchedule for the day: \n\n9am: 30 minute demo bike windows kick off\n9am: 60 min Group Ride with Catamount OFC ED and staff\n11:00am: 6o min Group Ride with RTF Team\n12pm: Food provided by RTF – donation required.\n1pm: 60 min Group Ride with Catamount OFC BOD and staff\n\nWho will be there? COFC Staff and Board\, RTF Team \, Vermont Mountain Bike Association (VMBA)\, Little Bellas\, Bicycle Express\, SDR Clothing Company and more! \nThis years event has a limited number of fat bike demos available supported by Catamount OFC and Bicycle Express. Bring one of your own pumpkins or take one of the many we will have waiting to be painted (there will be limited pumpkins available\, please plan accordingly)! \nThis will be a great time for 5-Pack members to redeem passes if you have not already! DESCRIPTION:Come race and/or cheer for a cause with us and enjoy great community\, vegan ice cream\, yard games and more! \nThis 5k trail running race is to benefit the Open Medicine Foundation (OMF)\, which is researching chronic\, complex diseases\, ME/CFS and Long Covid. The most common symptoms of ME/CFS are post-exertional malaise (worsening of symptoms upon even minimal exertion)\, un-refreshing sleep\, profound fatigue\, cognitive impairment\, orthostatic intolerance\, and pain. \nThis race will support the brilliant researchers at OMF who provide hope for treatments and a cure! Join us for an awesome community day at COFC. \nCost is $20/ racer. Profits will support OMF and COFC.
