DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Catamount Outdoor Family Center on April 8th to enjoy watching the solar eclipse with the Catamount community! The main event\, the eclipse viewing itself\, is open to all\, with attendees encouraged to bring picnic supplies\, enjoy our bonfire\, play yard games\, mingle with vendors like Renoun\, and more! Donations to our non-profit are appreciated. \nThe solar eclipse starts at 2:14pm in Burlington. The total eclipse of the sun should be seen between 3:26pm and 3:29pm. Stay tuned for more details. \nFolks that register for the Eclipse Science & Art program listed below\, they will also received a pair of eclipse glasses. \nApril 8th Eclipse Schedule: \n\n1:00pm-2:30pm: Eclipse Science & Art- Registration Required (limited to 25 people)\n1:30pm-3:00pm: Eclipse Science & Art- Registration Required (limited to 25 people)\n2:15pm-5pm: Watch the Eclipse- Open to all (Bring your own picnic and glasses\, enjoy our bon fire\, play yard games\, and more!)\n6:00pm to 7:00pm: Telescope Making Registration Required\n6:30pm to 7:30pm: Telescope Making Registration Required\n7:30pm: Stargazing – Open to all\n\nImportant Considerations:\n\nTraffic & Parking: Predicting attendance and traffic for such a novel event is challenging. While Vermont is expecting a significant influx of visitors for the eclipse\, our location on side roads should mitigate major traffic concerns. We will have parking attendants on site and will fill the main lot first\, followed by the overflow oval\, followed by parking along one side of Governor Chittenden Road. Parking on both sides of this road is NOT allowed as we need to maintain emergency vehicle access. Thank you for your cooperation.\n\nViewing Spot and Capacity: Rest assured\, our spacious Catamount grounds span 400 acres\, providing ample room for attendees. We have designated three large viewing areas on our southside network\, with Goose Hill offering stunning views of Mount Mansfield and Camel’s Hump. Early arrival is recommended for prime viewing spots\, but our setup can accommodate a sizable crowd comfortably.\n\nFacilities: Our facilities include one portable toilet for restroom needs. We are a pack in pack out facility so please plan to bring your own trash containers. While we don’t have indoor spaces\, we’ll have plenty of outdoor activities rain or shine.\n\n\nTrail Access: You’re more than welcome to visit Catamount beforehand to familiarize yourself with the layout. While some trails may be closed\, our parking lot will be accessible\, allowing you to walk over to Goose Hill and observe the viewing field setup. Please follow all tape and signage and do not walk on trails that are closed. Please note that Catamount’s trails may be open for recreation by 4/8/24. However\, that does not mean that all trail networks in the area are open. Make sure to research the area you are visiting and help protect our shared natural resources. \nSee less

Don’t forget to bring a picnic to enjoy before or after your ride. \nAdults and families are invited to join us for group rides that leave every hour throughout the day. This will be a great way to learn the trails at Catamount or dust off the skills. See registration below. Make sure to register in advance below. \nWe will also be offering MTB lessons and skills clinics though the event to shake off some dust or learn new skills. On March 9\, 2024\, Madie passed away on a backcountry skiing trip on Tuckerman’s Ravine trail in New Hampshire.
