DESCRIPTION:Catamount is thrilled to once again be the host of the annual Green Mountain Cyclocross event! \nThis event is a fun\, family and spectator friendly event\, put on in partnership with Green Mountain Off-Road\, a newly formed 501(c)(3) organization. Their mission is “to revive the legacy of #GMCX with a specific focus on increasing participation of junior racers and women and gender diverse (WGD) athletes.” Proceeds from the race will help support youth programming at Catamount as well as other local youth cycling organizations and racing endeavors! \n\nEvening clinics on Friday\, October 7th!\nRacing will be on Saturday\, October 8th!\n\n*New for 2022 is an early morning 5K running race on the bike course!* \nThere will also be a food truck and beer served in the designated ‘beer garden’\, sponsored by Lawson’s Finest Liquids! \nNotes on parking: Catamount’s parking lot is limited and we highly encourage carpooling by participants and spectators whenever possible. DESCRIPTION:Join us at Catamount for the SECOND annual RUTFest (Richmond Ultra Trail Festival)! \nThis is a weekend devoted to running and hiking local trails with our community. This 36-hour “race” includes two different 3-4 mile trail loops at Catamount\, with gorgeous views of Camel’s Hump and Mansfield. These two loops are run on repeat\, whenever you want. This is the weekend to run (or walk) further than you ever have before. \nEntry fee this year is a $20 donation to Sky’s the Limit Fund\, Camp Exclamation Point\, the RTRC\, or Catamount Outdoor Center. \nRegistered participants will receive event updates and info by email. All participants will be asked to sign up for a 1-hour volunteer shift at the aid station as well as donate a snack to the aid station. Register here: https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=97439 \nRunners check in at the main aid station to run laps whenever they would like during the event. DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the Richard Tom Foundation\, we are thrilled to announce the 3rd Annual Fat Bike Rally!\nBack in 2020\, The RTF provided matching funds to individual donors to help raise the money needed to purchase the SnowDog groomer that Catamount uses on our fat bike network! COFC and RTF have rallied each year since then to offer this space for folks to come together and enjoy this winter sport. Join us in exploring the fat bike trails throughout the Catamount Community Forest for free on February 5th\, 2023. Grab your fat bike\, or one of the free demo bikes provided at the event\, and join in on the fun as we celebrate winter biking together! \nThis years event has a limited number of fat bike demos available and each will be available for 50 minutes per ride. Although the demos are complementary\, a credit card is required to be held on file for some bike rentals. Priority will be given to those participating in a group ride. There will be two guided group rides throughout the day. \nDon’t miss the Sprint Race at 1:30pm. Bring your bike and go head to head with another fat biker. Or perhaps\, a skier! Not interested in racing? We recommend you stick to north side trails between 2:30pm- 5:30pm. \nTEAMS: BFA St. Albans\, Burlington\, Colchester\, Essex & South Burlington (host) \nFORMAT: 5k skate race for varsity\, 3k for JV and middle school. Racers will start in groups of two every 15 or 20 seconds. \nPARKING:  Vehicles are not permitted to park on Governor Chittenden Road. \nRACE COURSE: A 3k and 5k loop on the northern side of the facility. SUMMARY:Spring Birding With the North Branch Nature Center
DESCRIPTION:A casual morning of birding for all interests and experience levels facilitated by NBNC staff and guest leaders. These outings are about enjoying\, learning about\, and spending time with wild birds. No binoculars? No ID guide? No problem! The only requirement is an appreciation of birds (though we do have binoculars for those who would like them). \n\nDistance: This outing covers between 0.5 and 1 mile.\nTerrain and surface: The trails are dirt carriage roads and >6’-wide grass paths over compacted dirt. Trails have no to minimal cross-grade. The outing will involve up to 100′ of gradual vertical elevation change. There are no benches along the route. DESCRIPTION:Mud season is nearly over\, and we want to celebrate!\nJoin us at Catamount and celebrate the seasons start with Fellowship of the Wheel (FOTW) and the Vermont Mountain Bike Association (VMBA)! A whole host of our community partners and race sponsors will be there with goodies and treats\, stay tuned for a complete list. \nWe will start the day off with a kids’ self guided nature hunt and/or story walk. At 10:30am we will host bike limbo! \nAdults and families are invited to join us for beginner\, intermediate\, and advanced group rides throughout the day at 11am\, 12pm and 1pm. This will be a great way to learn the trails at Catamount or dust off the skills. \nJoin us at the vendor city in the main field\, where we’ll have demos\, swag\, and so much more for you to check out. Don’t forget to grab a bite to eat (optional donation) before or after your ride while supplies last.
