We’ll also play bike games as we practice drills and refine key skills. Focus areas include braking\, body positioning\, and skill blending (braking\, riding\, shifting\, and pedaling). \n⚠️ Prerequisites: \n\n\nCompletion of a beginner skills clinic at Catamount within the last 3 years\, or \n\n\nDemonstration of all of the following skills: \n\n\n\n-Eyes forward\, scanning ahead while riding\n-Covering brakes with one finger while riding\n-Use of both brakes to slow down and stop\n-“Neutral” and “Ready” riding positions\n-Pedaling on flat and varied terrain\n-Stand-up riding on flat and varied terrain with even pedals\n-Turning in both directions\n\nIf you have any questions about your skill level for this clinic\, please contact us at programs@catamountoutdoor.org. \nPlease bring your bike\, helmet\, water\, snack\, and any other gear you need to feel comfortable. DESCRIPTION:Monday Evening Novice MTB Ride Join us at Catamount every Monday evening this summer for our guided MTB Novice Rides! \nStarting on May 11th\, and running each Monday (weather dependent) until the end of September\, enjoy riding through the Catamount Community Forest on beginner and novice-friendly trails from 6:00pm to ~7:30pm at a mellow pace. These rides are perfect for those new to mountain biking or those looking for a mellow\, group ride. \nThe Monday series increases in difficulty each week and then resets at the start of the following month. For these rides\, we will only use double-track (gray) and single-track green trails\, which are less technical and ideal for those getting comfortable on their bikes. \nPlease note\, this is a group ride and NOT a clinic or lesson. DESCRIPTION:Join us this year and be part of the longest-running Weekly Race Series in the country! \nThe weekly races at Catamount OFC have a rich history and provide a fun\, relaxed atmosphere for everyone. Whether you’re new to racing or a seasoned pro\, you won’t want to miss the excitement at Catamount. \nOur mission is to promote family and community wellbeing through activity and education in the Catamount Community Forest which is why our race series is participation-based. At the end of the season\, we award sponsor prizes based to the folks with the highest participation counts of the summer. While winning is exciting\, we focus on personal bests and meaningful connections. \nAs in previous years\, we’ll be hosting our Tuesday evening Trail Running Series and Wednesday evening MTB Series from mid-May through early September. DESCRIPTION:Thursday Evening MTB Social Ride – Intermediate & AboveJoin us at Catamount every Thursday evening this summer for our guided Social MTB Rides! \nStarting on May 14th \,and running each Thursday (weather dependent) until end of September\, ride through the Catamount Community Forest from 6:00pm to 8:00pm with Catamount OFC community. These rides\, designed for more experienced riders\, are a great way to meet other enthusiast in the community and explore Catamount’s trail network. \nThe Thursday series increases in difficulty each week and then resets at the start of the following month. For these rides\, we will use double-track as well as green\, blue\, and some black single-track trails\, which are more technical and ideal for those who are comfortable on their bikes and a variety of terrain.
